A couple of co-workers here that work on a thin client are in need of some special fonts. However when installing them on the thin client the fonts are erased after the terminal session ends.
But this did not help. Is it possible to deploy the fonts so my co-workers don't have to install the fonts at every session? That's pretty much all you should need, as when users log on Windows reads from that registry location and loads each of the fonts listed there into the user's session.

As an addendum to the original question, why would the installation of Microsoft Office cause a font to start working? You really need to tell more about your custom font. OpenType fonts on Windows usually have the extension. As for why installing Office solved the problem, my guess would be that it added some DLL that deals with OpenType fonts, but again, it's really difficult to tell without knowing more about the font.
I have a similar but different problem. In the field we will have XP but no MS Office and probably no "East Asian" font pack installed a separate search didn't tell me exactly what is in that option.
