Applause ae 40 serial number

I don't know how old it is Not sure if there is a reliable serial number lookup for Applause. I bought some new strings to put on it, figuring I would give it a good college try I checked the neck I WONT put money into this one.. Should I file down the bridge as low as I can I don't think I can get it too low from looking at the angle. I am not sure Anyone know for sure? Took off the old stings to start cleaning it up Here is a shot of the inside where the neck meets the body.

While it has that synthetic look, it doesnt seem this is the older aluminum neck I'd say that's pretty clearly wood. Doesn't look like there's a truss rod you can play with, but it might be worth looking into. If there is indeed an adjustable truss rod, you'll be able to lower the action with that. As far as filing down the saddle is concerned, you'll have to make sure you file the entire saddle evenly, or else you'll some strings higher than others.

If you're not planning on using the pickup, why not just snip it off? That'll lower the action some. If you look at the last pic in the sequence you can see the truss rod adjustment hex nut on the bottom right hand corner.

I'd try lowering the saddle and adjust the trussrod if it needs it. Check the relief first to see if it needs adjustment. I stand corrected I had some trouble figuring out what was what in that bottom picture, so I just gave it a cursory glance. Now that you mention it, though, yesthe hex nut is almost certainly for adjusting the truss rod.

In that case, I'd tighten the truss rod a fraction of a turn and see if that helps. Unless the rod is broken, it should change your neck relief and hopefully lower the action a little bit. I had to adjust the truss rod quite a bit to get it flattened out to where I like it.

It did help a little, but didn't do enough for the 12th fret action height I think I did okay I had the sandpaper on a flat surface, and just ran the saddle back and forth holding it flat against the surface. It took three runs before it got low enough I don't think I can really go much lower. I did also think about just pulling the pickup I took off maybe that much of the saddle tho!

Now the action is manageable, with no buzz. Actually, the guitar isn't too bad after the string change and adjustments. Definitely not my favorite of the four I currently own.. Sorry bout that I literally stuck the camera inside the guitar and took a blind picture. Message Seller.
